  1. Now THAT is Visual Performance Management! James just changed high schools and I just got his literature list. Blah- Emerson, Thoreau, Twain. I asked the teacher where the female and minority writers were? I suggested Sylvia Plath and James Baldwin.

    • That is an old school list (although I like all three and hate Sylvia Plath). But Margaret Atwood would make for interesting classroom discussions. Last year (or was it 2014?) I tried to do my own VIDA count and track the diversity of my own reading. My efforts were severely hampered by my infatuation with all things Icelandic.
